society of
MARKETING TECHNOLOGY CONSULTANTS
OBJECTIVE
The SMTC Chapter was created to provide an open, collaborative environment through which we can all grow as both technologists and consultants providing value to our clients.
PURPOSE
Community members can act as a sounding board for each other - brainstorm, commiserate, and celebrate - and create a shared vocabulary to help elevate our procession and increase understanding and respect for what we do.
COLLABORATION
We recognize that we have unique relationships as both a community and competition, but we join together because we believe that the rewards far outweigh the risks.
GOAL
We all share a common goal of elevating the field of marketing operations and martech consulting which will have long lasting benefits for us, as well as the industry as a whole.

Minimum Requirements:
- Must be consulting as primary source of income. As much as we love our FTE friends, this is a "safe space" for those in a consulting role, and therefore anyone with W-2 employment will be asked to leave, but will be welcomed back with open arms if and when they begin consulting again.
- Active Pro or Pro+ MarketingOPS subscription
Behavorial Expectations
- You must be open to share on topics, including taxes, accounting, marketing, client relationships, technology.
- You must be open about any conflicts of interest with other SMTC member clients
- You must always respect the open nature of conversation and never use any of the information gained for competitive purposes. It is expected that from time to time, SMTC members may be in direct competition for clients. In these cases, consultants are expected to compete on their own unique merit and relationships.
- We value each other’s differences and strengths. The strength of the SMTC comes in a broad range of experience and viewpoints. We are not expected to agree on all issues, nor should that be a goal. Any disagreements must be presented in a respectful and curious manner.
